Several months of armchair research and studying of topographic maps, Google Earth and legwork on the ground led us to the site of an old Cobb & Co stagecoach horse changing station and hotel dating from the 1880s. We had been in the remote bush location less than half an hour and hit the jackpot (as far as 19th century coin hunts are concerned) – a Colonial ‘pocket spill’ along the side of the road outside the change station. Our second trip to the site produced more coins and a big silver. Unfortunately we didn’t record the dig on video but hope you enjoy the slide show. Thanks again to Lieutenant Pigeon for the background music.
