Metal Detecting Relics: “Primus No.1” Fuel Stove + King George V Silver Sixpence: Garrett GTI-2500.

Metal detecting a vacant inner city allotment, short and sweet. We uncover an antique Primus No.1 pressure fuel stove made in Sweden (c1896), as used by Amundsen on his 1910-12 South Polar expedition, although this is most likely not the actual stove used by Amundsen. A bonus find was 1917 King George V Australian silver sixpence in fine to very fine condition. We have also managed to add to our valuable collection of “Early 20th Century Australian Lead Roofing Nails”. Thanks for watching and HH.

  4. LOL. Thats what it feels like in the city blocks – too many people watching or asking or chatting and nothing gets done LOL. Traffic noise too. Yeech! No actually plenty of ‘oldies’ passing by give good advice and best wishes for us. And often they say: “why dont you try over at …” and you find a new site. But we dont do city blocks or parks much, and don’t do the beaches, leave that to Iroc, he’s the beach master LOL. HH mate. Hope to see a new hunt of yours up soon.

  22. Thanks mate, I walked over that signal 3 or 4 times, then gave up to temptation and dug it. Glad I did! Happy Hunting mate.

  25. Thanks mate, was stoked with that KGV Sixpence, they are beautiful coins, and it was less than 2 inches down, a few feet inside the front gate. Im hoping Im the first metal detector in there – seems like it. This was just a quick ‘Recon’ hunt of just over an hour. Going back this weekend, weather permitting. Might even boil up the billy LOL. HH mate, keep the vids coming, really enjoy all your posts. HH.

  29. Wes, well done mate, welcome to the club! Yes discrimination can lose your gold rings etc as the come up in the ring pull area. Starting out though, discriminate mode is easier to use generally than all metal on most machines, just use minimum discrimiation to take the iron trash off the bottom, dig everything else and you wont go wrong. HH mate.
