Gold, Silver & Bronze: NQ Explorers 2011 – The Metal Detecting Year In Review.

We purchased our first metal detector, a second hand D-Tex BFO, way back in 1980, and have been relic hunting and exploring ever since, but 2011 was our first year on YouTube. We hope you enjoy this little montage of 2011 – the metal detecting year that was. We would also like to thank all our YouTube friends and subscribers for your support. In addition, a big thanks to U2 for the music, hope we haven’t infringed any copyright here? Bono? – mate? If you have the time, please visit our blog www.nqexplorers.com

  1. G’day Steve, that wasn’t a cave in the video – it was the entrance to the old coal mine at Mt Mulligan – we have a video on our channel of that visit last September, the 90th Anniversary of the disaster. GL and HH mate!

  14. G’day Ringo, thats not a cave, it is actually the No.2 Adit to the Mt Mulligan coal mine, the scene of the 1921 disaster. Our new camera is a “ruggedised” (dustproof/waterproof & drop proof) Panasonic Lumix. Fully waterproof – so rain is no problem. Really happy with the new camera, it is designed for harsh environments which suits our hunts, and takes a great movie too. We usually use a tripod for the videos. Thanks for your support during the year mate! Merry Christmas!

  41. [..YouTube..] @Ivestor1
Thanks for watching Ivestor1, we make nothing from this video – it is not monetized, the ads are placed by YouTube and we have no control over that – we make no revenue whatsoever from the video mate. GL and HH.

  42. [..YouTube..] Have thoroughly enjoyed following your adventures in 2011 NQ.
Watching these outback vids keep me warm while living over here in the old country! Happy Xmas and HH ~Oz

  43. [..YouTube..] Thanks for the reminder, Warren. It is great to see those exciting moments all rolled into one great video, including the train and the gold nugget 🙂 I like the style of your filming and of course, the factual snippets of your country’s history, I can’t see anyone beating this. Well, 2012 is almost with us and with it a whole new series of Aus adventures to watch in comfort here. Merry Christmas to yourself and Colleen, Best Wishes for the New Year. GL & HH. Rich 😀

Love all the commentary about FNQ history and it’s great to see you and the missus getting out regularly for the greatest outdoor pastime around! Look forward to may more successful hunts and adventures in 2012!! GL and HH!

  47. [..YouTube..] What a fantastic year and wonderful video you both put together. Ive really enjoyed watching you and your success with Treasure Hunting. Been doing it for 38 years myself. And now, we get to do it all over again for 2012. What a great hobby. Happy Holidays to you Warren and your wife. Scott

  48. [..YouTube..] You should either take the music off or make the video without the ads because technically you are profiting with the use of their music without their consent. Just saying.

  49. [..YouTube..] Hey Mate! You and Mrs.NQ have a great holiday! Enjoyed your videos to the Max! Even the shots of Camp brings back memories of the good times i used to have.If we do find what we’re looking for,we’ll adjust our goals. You ever find a big nugget, you’ll need to find a bigger one, etc.Look forward to NQE 2012! Cheers mate!

  50. [..YouTube..] I hope to be as professional as you two are in making videos soon. I’ve grown addicted to youtube and to your video’s and it would indeed be a boring place if I couldn’t ‘get a fix’ of detecting in North Queensland with Colleen and Warren. All the best and you two have a Safe and Happy Christmas. Well done. Pete

  51. [..YouTube..] As I watch this video – I find myself reliving the adventures you have taken us all on – pretty much the concept of a year in review video LOL. Being in the main demographic for music from U2 makes it easy to watch – repeatedly. I do read all the comments – and it is plain to see the effort you both put in to your hobby and sharing it here on You Tube is reflected in the words written. Thank you for the inspiration your efforts have created. In some ways – you have found what you’re looking for.

  52. [..YouTube..] yes i started metal detecting may 2011. youtube is great idea. i addicted to making videos of my travels. great video,, does remind me of my younger years touring the top end of wa and through nt into the outback

  53. [..YouTube..] Colleen and Warren, thanks for entertaining us over 2011 and looking forward to further adventures into FNQ. Have a happy christmas and a fabulous new year. Hopefully we all find what we are looking for next year.
    Guy

  54. [..YouTube..] Awesome! Talk about another great video! Warren and Colleen, you have been hitting it out of the park each and every video you have presented. Congratulations on your first year here on Youtube and to many, many more! Maybe in 2012, Warren will out do Colleen in the most significant finds department! LOL! God Bless and Merry Christmas my friends!
