Metal Detecting ‘Hunted Out’ Sites.

If you are new to the hobby, this video may be helpful in getting you started as we do get a lot of questions regarding the sites we visit and how we approach them. Alternatively, as an experienced detectorist you may be familiar with some of these techniques or have developed your own methods for dealing with these situations. We will be uploading further videos similar to this one dealing with advanced discrimination and tips on researching new areas. Thanks for watching, subscribing and commenting on the video. You can also contact us directly on Facebook where we are happy to answer any of your questions. Happy Fossicking! Metal Detecting Pioneer Relics – The ‘Lost Valley’ in Winter.

This video was filmed in the (Southern) Winter of 2019 and although it may not qualify as ‘lost footage’ it was delayed in production as we have been travelling so much this year, including filming the series of videos with Beau in September/October. It is without question way too long at over 30 minutes with plenty of ‘real time live’ digs – but some great history is unearthed, reflecting the way of life of our hardy pioneers that built the inland infrastructure of 19th Century Australia. Colleen’s Trade Token & Great Scott! It’s 1885!

Having been detecting for many years and unearthing literally thousands of coins and relics, it’s taken until 2019 for Colleen to score her first 19th Century Trade Token! This is no comment on her ability, more the areas we usually search – as Trade Tokens were outlawed before most of inland and northern Queensland was settled in the mid and late 1870s. Some other nice 19th Century finds also come to light in this little adventure filmed over two visits to the inland goldfields of Queensland. Thanks for watching and subscribing, and please feel free to comment on our video! All the very best and Happy Fossicking!
