Warren.
Warren has been metal detecting for gold, relics and coins for over 40 years. He purchased his first metal detector in 1980 while serving with the Royal Australian Air Force and has prospected and detected in all States and Territories of Australia. After 15 years in the R.A.A.F. he began a career with a Geotechnical Engineering company in North Queensland and his knowledge of geology and soil mechanics, combined with his love of the outdoors and Australian history has led him to many forgotten and remote locations searching for gold and relics. Warren is experienced in operating a range of prospecting equipment and Garrett metal detectors in all environments. In 2011 Warren and his wife Colleen started filming their adventures on YouTube as ‘NQ Explorers’. This is now one of Australia’s largest dedicated metal detecting and prospecting channels with over 17,000 subscribers worldwide. In 2015 Warren became a full-time Brand Ambassador for Garrett Australia, representing the brand at trade and outdoor shows right across the country. Warren has travelled extensively overseas with Garrett, visiting the Garrett factory in Garland, Texas, prospecting for gold in Arizona, California and New Zealand and hunting for Civil War relics in Tennessee and Virginia. In 2017, along with Colleen he attended the product launch for the Garrett AT Max Metal Detector in Cesenatico, Italy. Over the years Warren has been a regular contributor to articles for magazines, newspapers and on-line publications.
Colleen.
Colleen has also been prospecting relic hunting for more than 40 years. She is also a R.A.A.F. veteran of 10 years service and shares Warren’s love of the outdoors, camping, exploring and adventuring. She is a member of the ‘Gold Coin’ club having found a Gold Half Sovereign (something Warren hasn’t done!) In addition she has found a rare Spanish Silver coin in Virginia (pictured) and even English Hammered silver here in Australia! Along with the Garrett Team she has detected for Civil War relics in Virginia and prospected for gold in Arizona. Since 2016, along with Warren, she has annually represented Garrett Australia at the SHOT Show in Las Vegas, Nevada on the Garrett Metal Detectors stand. She is a very keen detectorist and prospector, whether searching for gold nuggets, military relics, old coins or our Colonial History. She is also actively involved in the Metal Detecting Community on line.
